Composition-Rhetoric: Backgrounds, Theory, and Pedagogy by Robert J. Connors,

Composition-Rhetoric is a story of the people who have studied composite shingles and taught composition in American colleges since the early nineteenth century. The post-1910 modern period of composition-rhetoric was a period of relative stasis that is usually associated with the pejorative uses of the term "current-traditional rhetoric". The essays in this book, stemming from a national conference of the same name, focus on the single subject required of nearly all college students - composition.
